Job Description

Analytics (BI) Engineer

At SunnyData our mission is to help our customers in their data journey to power their business. We believe a solid foundation is the key to achieving outstanding data driven results: highly scalable architectures, robust data engineering pipelines, simple data consumption layers and accurate ML and AI applications. We are seeking a Data Analytics Engineer to support ongoing reporting and data engineering needs. This role will focus on building and maintaining business reports in different suites of BI tools, as well as performing modeling and transformation with large datasets.

A proactive mindset, strong communication skills and ability to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams are key.

The Impact You Will Have

1. Business Intelligence & Reporting

  • Develop, modify, and maintain dashboards and reports in BI tools such as PowerBI, Tableau and Databricks AI/BI.

  • Translate business requests (submitted via ticketing system) into accurate and actionable data visualizations.

  • Ensure consistency in definitions, metrics, and data logic across reports.

  • Optimize queries and dashboards for performance and clarity.

  • Document logic and assumptions behind key metrics and dashboards.

2. Data Engineering & Data Modeling

  • Advanced SQL knowledge and proven proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries

  • Create and maintain database views, derived tables, and other analytical objects to support reporting needs.

  • Proven work in dashboard engineering projects, with a focus on storytelling and usability

  • Perform data modeling and transformation tasks to ensure reliable downstream reporting.

  • Troubleshoot data discrepancies and validate data accuracy across systems.

  • Collaborate on improvements to data structure and warehouse organization when needed.

3. Deliverables & Success Criteria

  • Accurate, well-documented dashboards delivered within agreed SLAs.

  • Clean, reusable SQL objects supporting long-term reporting needs.

  • Improved clarity and consistency in metric definitions.

  • Reduced back-and-forth on reporting requests due to thoughtful implementation.

What We Look For

  • 4+ years of related experience in analytics/BI and data engineering.

  • Strong SQL proficiency (advanced querying, joins, CTEs, aggregations, window functions).

  • Hands-on experience with cloud based data warehouse.

  • Experience building dashboards and reports in BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI.

  • Ability to interpret business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

  • Strong attention to detail and data validation practices.

  • Profile oriented toward leading business interactions, defining standards, documenting KPIs and reports, optimizing large data models, and supporting more junior team members.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering related field.
