Job Description
What we're building
BlancVPN is looking for a Backend Developer (Python/Django) | Senior to build the systems hundreds of thousands of people trust with their privacy. On a VPN, the backend isn't plumbing you hide away β it is the product: when it's correct, fast, and predictable under failure, people stay private without ever having to think about it.
You'll build and own the services behind that promise on a Python 3, Django, PostgreSQL, Redis, ClickHouse and Celery stack β designing data models that stay consistent, writing code that stays understandable when something breaks, and making the critical paths boringly reliable.
What we're looking for
Core Requirements
- Fluent Russian and English (B2+)
- Strong commercial experience with Python 3
- Hands-on Django and a deep understanding of its ecosystem
- Confident PostgreSQL: schema design, indexes, migrations and query optimization
- Redis for caching, queues, locks and high-load product scenarios
- ClickHouse or other analytical databases for large volumes of event data
- Confident migration management via both Django migrations and Alembic
- Designing APIs, background tasks and internal admin tools
- Understanding of observability: logs, monitoring and incident investigation
- Experience with Docker, CI/CD and production deployment
- Attention to testing and a drive to make critical system paths predictable
Nice-to-have
- Ability to write Go (or at least confidently read it)
- Basic understanding of the network stack: how a system decides which interface to send data through
- Experience turning complex legacy into an architecturally mature solution
What you'll be doing
Development
- Build and maintain backend services, reliable product APIs, billing, back-office scenarios and internal admin tools
Data & Schema Management
- Design PostgreSQL schemas, manage migrations, keep data consistent and optimize heavy queries
State & Analytics
- Use Redis for caching, task coordination, rate limits and operational state; build reporting and event-processing flows on ClickHouse
Operations
- Carefully run migrations and schema changes across Django and Alembic services; improve monitoring, logging, alerts and debugging
Collaboration
- Work closely with product, frontend, infrastructure and support teams for safe, predictable feature releases
What we offer
π Work from anywhere β fully remote (except Russia, Belarus, China, Syria, Iran, Yemen, North Korea, and some other regions).
ποΈFlexible 5-day week β start when it suits you; loosely aligned to CET.
