Description
- We are the Global Procurement Organization, and we're on a mission to reshape how one of the world's largest companies powers its operations with clean energy. We're looking for a Category manager to own and scale our on site solar energy portfolio across Europe, the UK, and the Middle East, driving hundreds of megawatts of new capacity and tens of millions in cost savings. You'll be building the playbook for solar procurement in some of the fastest growing renewable energy markets on the planet. Own the full solar portfolio across a diverse set of markets from Western Europe to the Arabian Peninsula, where solar capacity is projected to grow 10x by 2035 Navigate complex regulatory landscapes from EU clean energy mandates to Saudi Vision 2030 and UAE's ambitious renewable targets Structure creative deals deciding when to deploy capital purchases vs. power purchase agreements vs. operating lease models across markets with very different economics Drive real sustainability impact your work will directly eliminate thousands of metric tons of CO2 annually while reducing grid dependency across hundreds of logistics facilities. Shape a category from the ground up in emerging Middle East markets, where solar is unlocking operations in locations where traditional grid connections aren't even possible If you love solving complex problems across cultures and borders, and want your work to have measurable environmental and financial impact, this is the role. Key job responsibilities - Develop and execute the long term sourcing strategy for on site solar across Europe, UK, and Middle East covering rooftop, carport, and ground mount technologies - Lead portfolio based tenders, bundling demand across multiple countries to maximize negotiation leverage and reduce procurement cycle times - Build financial models including net present value, total cost of ownership, and payback analysis to support investment decisions and senior leadership recommendations - Own strategic supplier relationships through quarterly business reviews, performance tracking, and capacity planning while maintaining competitive tension across the vendor base - Identify and mitigate supply chain risks including equipment lead times, trade policy shifts, and regional market constraints - Track energy production performance against forecasts and drive continuous improvement in system output and cost efficiency - Lead category consolidation efforts, bringing fragmented solar activities under a unified procurement framework to unlock savings and standardize specifications A day in the life Your day starts with a portfolio review call across European markets, then shifts to negotiating contract terms with a supplier for a compliance driven deployment. After lunch, you're deep in a financial model stress testing deal structures for a new Middle East opportunity. By afternoon, you're syncing with engineering, legal, finance, sustainability, and construction partners to keep projects on track. The variety is constant and no two days look the same as you move between strategy, negotiation, and execution across time zones. About the team You'll join the Power and Utilities team within Amazon's Global Procurement Organization. We manage the full energy lifecycle for Amazon's worldwide operations across five areas: utilities supply and audits, power infrastructure and grid services, on site renewables and storage, EV charging infrastructure, and hydrogen mobility solutions. This role sits within the renewables and storage pillar, but you'll work alongside colleagues tackling everything from microgrids and demand response to hydrogen refueling and electric vehicle charging. We're a global team that is scaling fast and rewriting how large scale operations source, generate, and consume power.
