Job Description

About the Role

Lead and scale multiple product engineering squads at a growth-stage education technology company. You will take ownership of product engineering, combining hands-on technical work with team leadership to build reliable tools that help schools create schedules for teachers and students.

What You'll Do

  • Lead multiple product squads focused on scheduling, visibility and reporting, and elementary school experiences.

  • Contribute code, review changes, and pair with engineers, with hands-on work expected to decrease as the organization grows.

  • Make and implement architecture decisions that support a robust, scalable platform.

  • Partner with Product, School Success, and other stakeholders to set squad goals and align engineering priorities with business outcomes.

  • Deliver high-value product features, including advancing AI-powered capabilities.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 5 years of engineering experience and 2 to 3 or more years managing multiple engineering teams, including teams of 6 or more engineers.

  • Experience scaling teams and, ideally, managing other engineering managers.

  • Hands-on technical ability, including writing, reviewing, and understanding code.

  • Strong backend architecture experience and the ability to ramp up on new technologies.

  • Experience in a startup or high-growth environment, with the ability to prioritize independently and work through ambiguity.

  • Strong communication skills and experience connecting technical decisions to business outcomes.

  • Familiarity with React, TypeScript, Python, AWS, and MongoDB; education technology experience is relevant.

Compensation & Benefits
