Summary of Job:
A part time Human Research Support position is available in the Penn State College of Medicine, Heart and Vascular Institute’s Basic Science Human Research laboratory led by Dr. Jian Cui. The laboratory is focused on understanding the cardiovascular function in health and in cardiovascular disease. Some of the methodologies utilized in the lab include blood pressure, EKG, electrophysiology recordings and Doppler ultrasound. Applicants should have an interest in cardiovascular physiology, exercise physiology, electrophysiology or medical research. This position offers exposure to a collaborative clinical research environment, involving interactions with patients as well as close coordination with clinicians and researchers. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a research environment.
Responsibilities: Recruit and coordinate study participants, including both healthy individuals and patients with cardiovascular diseases. Contact potential participants via phone, email, and mail to assess interest and eligibility. Explain study objectives, procedures, risks, and benefits, and complete required documentation. Schedule and coordinate study visits with investigators and research staff. Assist with study setup, data collection, and data analysis.
Experience/Education Requirements and Qualifications: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact professionally with diverse populations, including patients; strong attention to detail; bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field are required. Prior experience in clinical research or human subject studies, as well as experience recruiting participants for clinical studies, is preferred.
This is a part-time position working 24 hours a week on campus. One year appointment with a good possibility of renewal each year.
