Job Description
- This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Insurance Program Coordinator based in India. This role is responsible for coordinating health insurance programs supporting J-1 participants and their eligible J-2 dependents. You will serve as a key liaison between program sponsors, participants, internal teams, and external insurance providers. The position combines participant support, insurance administration, regulatory compliance, documentation, and reporting. You will ensure coverage remains accurate and compliant with U.S. Department of State requirements throughout each participant’s program. The role also provides opportunities to improve processes, develop resources, and strengthen the overall participant experience. Success requires strong organization, attention to detail, communication skills, and a customer-focused mindset. This is a full-time remote opportunity based in India, working with international stakeholders and U.S.-focused insurance processes.
- Accountabilities: Serve as the primary insurance liaison for J sponsors, internal program teams, participants, and external insurance providers. Enroll J-1 participants in appropriate insurance plans and support eligible J-2 dependents with enrollment. Guide participants on insurance coverage, benefits, claims, provider access, and available resources, explaining U.S. health insurance concepts clearly and empathetically. Conduct follow-up outreach through calls, emails, and messages regarding enrollment, payments, documentation, and other outstanding requirements. Ensure J-1 and J-2 insurance coverage complies with applicable U.S. Department of State requirements and maintain accurate records throughout each participant’s program. Track coverage effective dates, enrollment updates, payment status, and other compliance information while maintaining audit-ready documentation. Coordinate with insurance providers to resolve enrollment issues, troubleshoot participant concerns, and maintain accurate plan information. Review insurance provider invoices for accuracy before approval and identify recurring issues or trends requiring escalation. Support internal training initiatives by helping teams understand insurance requirements, processes, and participant resources. Assist in creating educational materials and identifying lessons learned or opportunities to improve communication and service delivery. Identify and recommend improvements to insurance workflows, compliance processes, participant support, and operational efficiency. Contribute to the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures related to insurance administration. Maintain accurate records and use Microsoft tools such as Excel, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, and Word to manage program information. Track enrollment, compliance, payment, and participant-support metrics and prepare reports or dashboards for leadership. Navigate the insurance provider's administrative portal to manage enrollments, updates, terminations, and account troubleshooting. Requirements: Professional experience in the insurance services field, ideally with exposure to insurance administration, compliance, or case management. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex U.S. health insurance concepts in a clear and supportive manner. Experience collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, external vendors, sponsors, and other stakeholders. Strong customer-service orientation, demonstrating patience, empathy, professionalism, and a commitment to participant support. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly and professionally. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaboration tools, particularly Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, and SharePoint. Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate documentation, meet deadlines, and follow established compliance requirements. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to recognize recurring issues, escalate appropriately, and contribute to process improvements. Prior experience supporting international services, particularly programs involving the United States, is preferred. Familiarity with U.S. health insurance processes, regulatory requirements, or international participant programs would be an advantage. Benefits: Full-time remote position based in India. Opportunity to work with international stakeholders and support global mobility and participant programs. Meaningful work at the intersection of insurance administration, compliance, customer support, and international workforce services. Collaborative environment with opportunities to contribute to process improvements and operational initiatives. Opportunities to develop expertise in U.S. health insurance and international program administration. Exposure to cross-functional collaboration with sponsors, insurance providers, internal teams, and participants. Supportive environment focused on professional growth, meaningful impact, and continuous improvement.
