What You’ll Be Doing:
Lead Software Engineer
About the Role
Evolent is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to be a key contributor in building scalable, secure, and high-performance healthcare applications. This role requires strong technical expertise along with the ability to lead design and development efforts, mentor team members, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade applications using ASP.NET MVC, Web forms, .NET Core, C#, and SQL Server
- Lead end-to-end software development lifecycle (SDLC) including design, development, testing, and production support
- Architect scalable and secure solutions by applying design patterns and principles
- Provide technical leadership to the team, conduct design/code reviews, and ensure adherence to coding standards
- Collaborate with product owners, QA, and other stakeholders to design and deliver high-quality features
- Drive performance optimization, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
- Contribute to modernization initiatives including migration to cloud-native or microservices-based architectures
- Identify and recommend new technologies and tools to improve system performance, scalability, and developer productivity
- Participate in deployment, release management, and production stability improvements
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building a strong engineering culture
Required Qualifications
- 6–8 years of experience in software development
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- ASP.NET / .NET Core
- C#
- SQL Server
- Azure resources (functions, storage, keyvalut, App Config, App insights)
- Solid understanding of:
- Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
- Design patterns & Principles (SOLID, etc.)
- Software engineering best practices
- Experience in building scalable web applications and APIs
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced Agile environment
- Experience with code reviews, CI/CD, and version control systems (Git)
Good to Have
- Experience in application modernization / legacy transformation
- Exposure to microservices architecture, cloud (Azure), or distributed systems
- Knowledge of healthcare domain / EMR / payer systems
- Experience with performance tuning and security practices
Soft Skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to lead technical discussions and influence decisions
- Proactive mindset with focus on ownership and delivery excellence
