• This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Architect based in the United States. This is a unique opportunity to lead the architecture and development of next-generation AI-powered platforms that combine advanced machine learning with scalable software engineering. In this role, you will design intelligent systems that leverage agentic AI, modern search technologies, and production-grade cloud infrastructure to solve complex enterprise challenges. You'll collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to build reliable, secure, and highly scalable solutions while shaping technical strategy and architectural standards. The position offers broad ownership across backend services, AI workflows, APIs, and user-facing experiences, with a strong emphasis on innovation balanced by operational excellence. • Accountabilities: Design, architect, and deliver scalable AI-powered platforms, agentic systems, and enterprise applications capable of supporting complex, production-grade workflows. Build and evolve intelligent agent frameworks featuring multi-step reasoning, tool integration, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), multimodal capabilities, streaming, state management, and secure execution environments. Define and maintain robust backend architectures, including RESTful APIs, asynchronous services, event-driven workflows, streaming protocols, authentication, versioning, and service orchestration. Lead the design and optimization of search and information retrieval systems, balancing relevance, latency, scalability, precision, recall, and user experience. Develop evaluation frameworks to measure AI quality, reliability, safety, and performance using automated testing, production monitoring, human review processes, and statistical analysis. Drive architectural best practices across cloud infrastructure, observability, operational reliability, deployment automation, and production support. Collaborate across engineering and product teams to deliver end-to-end solutions, contributing to both backend systems and user-facing experiences when needed. Mentor engineering teams, influence technical roadmaps, and promote pragmatic architectural decisions that balance innovation, maintainability, and business objectives. Requirements 7+ years of professional software engineering experience using languages such as Java, Go, Python, or JavaScript. 5+ years of experience building and operating enterprise-scale production software and distributed systems. Hands-on experience designing agentic AI solutions, including conversational agents, reasoning systems, tool orchestration, or autonomous workflows. Strong expertise in AI system architecture, foundation models, large language models (LLMs), multimodal AI, retrieval systems, and evaluation methodologies. Proven experience designing scalable APIs, backend services, asynchronous architectures, event-driven systems, and cloud-native applications. At least 2 years of experience designing and optimizing search or information retrieval platforms, including OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, or similar technologies. Strong understanding of machine learning fundamentals, statistical evaluation, model performance analysis, and AI reliability tradeoffs. Experience working with AWS cloud services; familiarity with Azure is beneficial. Knowledge of containerization, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and modern DevOps practices. Familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks such as React, with the willingness to contribute across the full technology stack. Experience working with multimedia processing, video workflows, or tools such as FFmpeg or OpenCV is a plus. Strong communication, technical leadership, problem-solving, and collaboration skills within Agile development environments. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
