Job Description
- This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Release Automation Engineer based in United States. This role offers the opportunity to design, build, and optimize the automated systems that power reliable software delivery at scale. You will own the engineering behind modern release workflows, ensuring code moves from development to production with speed, security, and confidence. The position focuses on CI/CD pipeline architecture, deployment automation, release governance, and continuous improvement of engineering delivery practices. You will leverage automation and AI-powered tools to create smarter, more efficient, and increasingly self-healing release infrastructure. Working closely with engineering, DevOps, security, and cloud teams, you will help eliminate manual processes and improve developer productivity. The ideal candidate is passionate about automation, operational excellence, and building release systems that engineering teams can fully trust.
- Accountabilities: The Release Automation Engineer will own the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of release automation systems that enable reliable and scalable software delivery. This role focuses on pipeline engineering, automated deployments, infrastructure integration, observability, and establishing best practices that improve engineering velocity and production confidence. Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines across engineering teams using platforms such as Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions. Develop reusable pipeline templates, automation components, and standardized delivery patterns that enable teams to adopt efficient release practices. Engineer automated build, test, packaging, and deployment workflows with strong artifact traceability and quality controls. Implement automated release promotion workflows across development, testing, staging, and production environments. Build and maintain automated quality gates incorporating testing, security scanning, performance checks, and compliance requirements. Develop rollback mechanisms, deployment validation processes, and recovery workflows to minimize release risks. Integrate database migration automation, feature flag management, and progressive delivery capabilities into release workflows. Use AI-powered engineering tools to accelerate automation development, analyze pipeline failures, improve documentation, and identify optimization opportunities. Build infrastructure automation supporting environment provisioning, configuration management, secrets handling, and deployment readiness validation. Implement container build, scanning, tagging, and promotion automation for modern application delivery workflows. Create dashboards and monitoring solutions to track pipeline performance, deployment reliability, and delivery metrics. Analyze DORA metrics and operational data to identify bottlenecks and continuously improve release processes. Establish CI/CD standards, documentation, governance practices, and operational guidelines across engineering teams. Partner with engineering, security, and cloud teams to improve automation maturity and ensure secure, compliant release practices. Requirements: The ideal candidate brings strong experience in CI/CD engineering, DevOps practices, and release automation, with the ability to design scalable delivery systems and solve complex technical challenges. This role requires a combination of software engineering skills, infrastructure knowledge, automation expertise, and a continuous improvement mindset. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. Professional experience in release engineering, DevOps engineering, platform engineering, or CI/CD automation roles. Hands-on expertise with Azure DevOps Pipelines and GitHub Actions, including pipeline-as-code, reusable templates, and multi-stage workflows. Strong programming and scripting skills using languages such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar. Experience building automated artifact promotion workflows with deployment gates, approvals, and rollback capabilities. Experience with Docker-based build and deployment automation, container registries, and image security scanning. Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or AWS CDK. Demonstrated experience using AI tools to improve automation, scripting, documentation, or engineering workflows. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose complex pipeline failures and eliminate recurring issues. Experience integrating security scanning tools such as SAST, DAST, SCA, and container vulnerability scanning into CI/CD workflows. Familiarity with database migration automation tools such as Flyway and feature flag platforms such as LaunchDarkly is preferred. Experience with AWS deployment services, including CodePipeline, CodeDeploy, ECS, or Lambda deployment patterns, is a plus. Familiarity with DORA metrics, delivery performance measurement, and pipeline observability practices. Experience working within security and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO/IEC 27001, or NIST 800-53 is preferred. Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, security, and operations teams. A proactive mindset focused on automation, reliability, and building systems that engineering teams can confidently depend on. Benefits: Competitive base salary range of approximately $100,000 – $122,000, depending on skills, experience, location, and business needs. Eligibility for bonus opportunities. Medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage for employees and eligible dependents. Fully paid vision insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, and basic life insurance. Hybrid work flexibility, with many full-time roles eligible for fully remote work. Flexible paid time off options and company-paid holidays where available. Generous family leave programs, including adoption and foster care support. 401(k) retirement plan with company match up to 4%. Health savings, flexible spending, commuter, and dependent care savings accounts. Employee Assistance Program offering confidential personal and professional support. Education assistance programs supporting certifications and career development. Wellness reimbursement programs supporting healthy habits and employee wellbeing. Additional insurance options, including pet insurance, critical illness coverage, and voluntary life and AD&D insurance. Opportunity to work on advanced automation initiatives that directly improve software delivery and engineering productivity.
