This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial insurance professional to manage and grow a profitable portfolio while building lasting relationships with agency partners. In this role, you will evaluate commercial risks, make sound underwriting decisions, and contribute directly to profitable business growth across an assigned territory. - Accountabilities: Develop, manage, and expand a profitable commercial lines portfolio by underwriting new and renewal business within assigned authority levels. Build and maintain strong relationships with agency partners while managing an assigned territory to achieve growth, retention, and profitability objectives. Analyze commercial risks, exposures, and coverage needs to determine appropriate underwriting decisions, policy modifications, and pricing strategies. Evaluate high-risk and complex accounts using advanced underwriting knowledge, rating methodologies, and sound business judgment. Apply expertise in commercial coverages, forms, endorsements, symbols, and rating practices to deliver accurate and consistent underwriting decisions. Monitor portfolio performance, identify opportunities for profitable growth, and support loss ratio objectives through effective risk selection. Mentor and support team members by sharing technical expertise, underwriting best practices, and industry knowledge. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 5 years of commercial lines underwriting experience with demonstrated expertise managing complex commercial risks. Strong understanding of commercial underwriting principles, rating concepts, policy forms, endorsements, and industry best practices. Excellent analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills with the ability to balance risk assessment and business growth objectives. Proven ability to build strong agency relationships while effectively managing multiple priorities and deadlines. Proficiency with underwriting systems, Microsoft Office applications, and other business software. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical underwriting concepts clearly. Professional insurance designations such as CPCU, AU, or CIC are highly valued.
