Job Description
- This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Conversion Copywriter based in India. This is a senior copywriting role focused on shaping the words that influence the most important stages of the customer journey. You will create conversion-focused messaging across acquisition, onboarding, monetization, lifecycle marketing, and retention. Your work will help turn new users into engaged members, encourage upgrades, drive promotional revenue, and bring inactive users back. You will collaborate closely with product, growth, design, lifecycle, and performance marketing teams in a highly data-informed environment. The role combines strong creative craft with experimentation, requiring you to develop hypotheses, test messaging, analyze results, and continuously improve. You will also help define and protect a distinctive brand voice that remains warm, clever, authentic, and human across every channel. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced writer who enjoys ownership, remote collaboration, fast iteration, and measurable business impact.
- Accountabilities Own conversion copy across key customer touchpoints, including acquisition, onboarding, monetization, lifecycle, retention, and promotional campaigns. Write onboarding experiences that help new users feel welcomed, engaged, and motivated to continue using the product. Develop copy for Premium and Diamond upgrade flows, paywalls, feature prompts, and other monetization experiences that clearly communicate value without creating unnecessary pressure. Create compelling copy for major promotional and sales campaigns, including seasonal events, annual promotions, and other revenue-driving initiatives. Develop lifecycle marketing content across email, push notifications, and in-product messaging to re-engage inactive users and strengthen ongoing engagement. Partner with performance marketing teams to produce paid acquisition copy, video ad scripts, voiceovers, and promotional creative across platforms such as Apple Search Ads, Meta, and Google. Produce multiple copy variations designed for structured A/B testing and continuously refine messaging based on performance results. Develop clear copy hypotheses and use conversion, engagement, and experimentation data to determine which messaging performs best. Collaborate with product, growth, design, lifecycle, and performance marketing teams to ensure copy supports broader business and user experience objectives. Serve as a steward of brand voice by establishing standards, documenting tone and messaging principles, and helping other teams produce consistent communications. Translate complex product or commercial objectives into concise, persuasive, and audience-appropriate messaging. Respond constructively to feedback, iterate quickly, and take ownership of copy from initial concept through testing and optimization. Requirements 6+ years of professional experience creating conversion-focused copy, ideally for a consumer product, subscription business, mobile application, or large-scale digital platform. A strong portfolio demonstrating experience across onboarding flows, upsell and monetization experiences, lifecycle emails, promotional campaigns, and paid advertising. Demonstrated ability to connect copywriting decisions to measurable outcomes such as conversion, acquisition, engagement, retention, or revenue. Strong understanding of monetization, growth marketing, paid acquisition, and conversion-focused messaging. Exceptional ability to adapt tone and voice across different formats, from short-form advertising hooks to upgrade messaging and long-form lifecycle communications. Strong data literacy and comfort using A/B testing, experimentation, and performance insights to inform creative decisions. Ability to develop messaging hypotheses, learn from test results, and revise copy based on evidence rather than personal preference. Excellent editing and rewriting skills, with the ability to receive feedback constructively and refine work without ego. Strong self-direction, accountability, and organizational skills, particularly within a remote and asynchronous working environment. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate copy rationale clearly. A strong sense of brand voice and the ability to maintain consistency while adapting messaging to different audiences and channels. Genuine interest in chess or curiosity about the game and the community it serves is preferred; a formal chess rating is not required. A practical, results-oriented mindset with the confidence to challenge ideas, experiment, and discontinue messaging that does not perform. Benefits Full-time opportunity. 100% remote work with the flexibility to work from anywhere. Opportunity to contribute to a globally recognized consumer digital product and large international user community. High degree of ownership over conversion, monetization, acquisition, onboarding, and lifecycle messaging. Collaboration with experienced professionals across product, growth, design, marketing, and other functions. Data-driven environment where creative work is tested, measured, and continuously improved. Opportunity to influence brand voice and establish copywriting standards across the organization. Remote and asynchronous working environment built around trust, autonomy, and ownership. Exposure to a broad range of conversion and lifecycle marketing challenges at significant scale.
