Job Description

About Us

Moongate is building the world's leading sound therapy app, helping people sleep better, get focused, and relieve stress. We're bootstrapped, profitable, and focused on scaling to eight-figure ARR while keeping the team small and nimble.

The Role

You'll be our third engineering hire, and our first web specialist. Moongate is primarily an iOS app today, with supporting web technology. Our team leans heavily iOS focused, and that's where our engineering depth is. The web checkout, backend, and marketing infrastructure have been built along the way to support the app. They work well, but they've never had a dedicated owner. You'll be the first, working directly with the engineer founders to become the primary contributor to the Moongate web stack and set the standard for how we build everything outside iOS. This is a senior role that, with excellent performance, stands to lead our web engineering as that team grows.

What You'll Tackle

Phase 1: Level up our web infrastructure. Take ownership of our web platforms and turn them into systems built for scale: reliable, well-tested, and easy to extend. Build the features that unlock new monetization and acquisition channels and help us grow. Own our web2app and attribution infrastructure.

Phase 2: Take Moongate to web (and probably Android). Build the app, likely in a multiplatform web/mobile stack, on top of the checkout and account systems from Phase 1. This is an ambitious project that opens up entirely new markets and marketing channels.

Throughout, you'll report directly to the technical founders and work closely with other talented people across marketing, design, and engineering.

You're a Fit If

  • You have a demonstrable track record of shipping and feel confident making decisions amid ambiguity.
  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset and are hungry for ownership.
  • You have strong, well-reasoned opinions about web platforms and tooling. You will own these decisions and their consequences.
  • You know how to leverage AI coding agents to increase your capacity and velocity. You understand the tooling, guardrails, and judgment required to build using these tools. You have leveraged AI to dramatically expand what you can accomplish over the last 1-2 years.

Technical Experience We're Looking For

  • You have a track record of building with TypeScript.
  • You've built backend services on Firebase, Firestore, and Google Cloud.
  • You have experience with payments/checkout flows end to end with Stripe or similar.

Bonus Points

  • You've shipped a React Native/Expo app to production.
  • You've built performance-marketing infrastructure: pixels, server-side event APIs, MMPs, deferred deep linking.
  • You've worked on subscription apps and words like "RevenueCat", "paywall test", and "MMP" mean something to you.
  • You've launched your own app, product, or other project.
  • You have some design sense and are comfortable making calls when specs aren't fully complete.

If any of this applies to you, be sure to mention it in your application!
