Vultr is seeking a Senior Manager, Cloud Storage Engineering to lead the engineering and operations team responsible for Vultr's cloud storage portfolio. You will oversee the design, deployment, and operation of block, object, and file storage services across all global regions and performance tiers — from Archival to Standard to Accelerated. This is a rare opportunity to shape the storage backbone that powers hundreds of thousands of workloads worldwide, from everyday applications to the most demanding AI training and inference pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and grow a high-performing team of storage engineers and operators across multiple regions
Own the technical delivery for Vultr's block, object, and file storage products across all performance tiers
Drive architecture decisions for multi-tenant, multi-tier storage platforms serving diverse workload profiles
Ensure five-nines availability, durability, and performance SLAs across the global storage fleet
Integrate and operationalize third-party storage solutions as needed
Optimize storage systems for AI and HPC workloads requiring extreme throughput and low latency
Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and customer success teams to define storage offerings and SLAs
Manage capacity planning, cost optimization, and vendor relationships across the storage stack
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in storage engineering, with 3+ years in engineering management
Deep expertise with Ceph and distributed storage architectures in production environments
Experience building and operating multi-tenant cloud storage services at scale
Strong understanding of block, object, and file storage protocols and performance characteristics
Experience with third-party enterprise storage platforms (DDN, VAST, Weka, NetApp) is a strong plus
Knowledge of high-performance storage optimization techniques for AI and HPC workloads is a plus
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Compensation
$135,000 - $160,000
Final compensation will vary depending on years of experience, background/skill set, location, and applicable laws.
