We are seeking a Senior Manager to lead the Commodity Management pillar within the Procurement organization. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on category ownership, establishing sourcing strategies, developing supply market intelligence, and setting supplier management standards across key direct and indirect categories while building and leading a high-performing team of Commodity Managers.

The Senior Manager will oversee and manage a team responsible for multiple commodity areas and will personally own the Electronics category, including PCBA, electronic components, and cable harness assemblies. The Senior Manager will be responsible for managing supplier selection, performance, risk and compliance within IonQ’s supply base for these commodities.This leader will partner closely with Engineering, Quality, Compliance, Operations, Security, and Legal to ensure a resilient, compliant, and scalable supply chain.

In addition, this role will monitor global supply chain dynamics, supplier markets, and industry trends, translating insights into strategic recommendations that inform sourcing strategies and support executive decision making.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop IonQ’s Commodity Management organization, managing and mentoring Commodity Managers responsible for both direct and indirect supply categories.
  • Establish and drive commodity management standards, frameworks, and best practices across the procurement organization.
  • Own and execute the global electronics and wire harness commodity strategies, including PCBA, electronic components, cable assemblies, and harness systems.
  • Lead complex commercial negotiations, supplier agreements, and cost reduction initiatives across key commodity categories.
  • Lead efforts with other functional areas to develop and deploy standard metrics to measure supplier performance and risk in areas of technology, quality, responsiveness, delivery and cost (TQRDC).
  • Develop long-term sourcing strategies that balance cost competitiveness, supply continuity, supplier innovation, and risk mitigation.
  • Monitor global supply chain trends, market dynamics, technology developments, and industry risks, translating insights into sourcing strategies and leadership briefings.
  • Disseminate supply market intelligence and risk insights to internal stakeholders and leadership to support informed decision-making.
  • Identify and proactively mitigate supply chain risks, including supplier concentration, capacity constraints, geopolitical risk, and technology transitions.
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships with electronics manufacturers, harness suppliers, and contract manufacturers supporting IonQ hardware programs.
  • Partner closely with Engineering and Operations to align commodity strategies with product roadmaps, new product introduction (NPI), and manufacturing scale-up requirements.
  • Evaluate supplier capability, capacity, scalability, and financial health relative to forecasted demand and identify sourcing risks.
  • Establish and drive supplier performance management frameworks, including supplier scorecards, quarterly business reviews, and supplier development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Procurement Partners to develop competitive sourcing packages and RFQs aligned with commodity strategies.
  • Ensure sourcing activities align with quality, regulatory, and export compliance requirements.

 

You’d be a good fit with:

  • 12+ years of experience in direct materials procurement, commodity management, or strategic sourcing within advanced manufacturing or electronics environments.
  • 7+ years of people leadership experience managing sourcing or commodity management teams.
  • Deep experience sourcing electronics, PCBA, cable assemblies, or wire harness systems.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and BOM structures.
  • Demonstrated experience leading strategic supplier negotiations and long-term supplier partnerships.
  • Experience operating within ERP or MRP-driven procurement environments.

  • Demonstrated experience analyzing global supply markets, supplier ecosystems, and industry trends.

  • Demonstrated cost analysis, cost modeling, and value engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of supplier risk assessment, capacity planning, and supply continuity strategies.
  • Familiarity with quality or export compliance considerations in regulated environments.
  • Strong executive communication and cross-functional stakeholder alignment skills.
  • Experience with strategic sourcing in a defense contracting environment (i.e., FAR/DFARs experience)

 

Location: Ideally, this role will work hybrid at our office located in Bothell, WA.  We are open to hybrid and remote options for the right candidate.
Travel: Up to 15% domestic travel; occasional international travel may be required.

The approximate base salary range for this position is $133,583 - $174,197. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, and equity.
