Job Description

Role Summary

This role is an opportunity to work with a high‑agency startup team operating in the hard‑tech sector. You will play a critical role in scaling a software engineering team to build in‑house supply chain and manufacturing software, leveraging AI‑enabled tools to accelerate development and operational efficiency.

This is a hybrid role. In the initial phase, you will be hands‑on—defining system architecture, building MVPs, and writing production code—while simultaneously building and growing a high‑performing team to deliver software for Amperesand’s organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the architecture for supply chain, inventory management, and manufacturing systems tailored to Amperesand’s operational needs.
  • Design, review, and evolve system architectures, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Develop a team scaling and hiring plan, and actively run hiring efforts in partnership with HR, Finance, and Recruiting.
  • Build, mentor, and grow a high‑performing engineering team, providing technical direction, career guidance, and regular feedback.
  • Stay current with AI technologies and thoughtfully integrate them into the development toolchain with appropriate security and compliance guardrails.
  • Run day‑to‑day software operations, including sprint planning, stand‑ups, backlog management, and delivery tracking.
  • Coordinate with global and cross‑functional teams (manufacturing, supply chain, firmware, data, and leadership) to align priorities and manage dependencies.
  • Own delivery outcomes, including timelines, quality, and stakeholder communication.
  • Establish and continuously improve engineering best practices around code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability, and on‑call readiness.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of hands‑on software development experience in  one of these systems -  ERP, manufacturing software, supply chain systems, or IoT platforms.
  • Experience working with modern infrastructure and tooling, including:
  • Containers (Docker)
  • CI/CD pipeline tools
  • Data streaming or event‑driven systems
  • Dashboarding, analytics, or observability tools
  • Experience managing and scaling engineering teams of 5+ people.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and production software operations.
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast‑paced, ambiguous startup environments.

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience in the energy, industrial, or manufacturing domain.
  • Prior experience building teams and system architectures from scratch.
  • Exposure to or hands‑on experience with agentic systems or AI‑driven workflows.
  • Experience working closely with hardware, firmware, or operations teams.
  • Familiarity with supply chain concepts such as MRP, inventory planning, or shop‑floor systems.

Please note: This role requires working on-site 5 days a week. We do not offer hybrid or remote options.
