Description
- Amazon Transparency enables brands to protect products, build consumer trust, and gain end-to-end supply chain visibility through unit-level serialization. As the program scales globally and the industry transitions toward GS1 Sunrise 2D barcodes, we are at a strategic inflection point that demands stronger cross-regional alignment, disciplined initiative management, and tighter coordination between Business Development (BD), Product, and Marketing. The Senior Business Development Manager, Strategic Initiatives will own the strategic planning, cross-functional coordination, and programmatic execution that connects our global BD organization. This is not a delivery role with clear accountability for outcomes. You will drive the annual and quarterly planning processes that set BD direction, lead high-priority initiatives from concept through execution, and build the mechanisms that ensure consistency and visibility across regions. The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with a bias for action, is comfortable operating in ambiguity, and brings a track record of driving cross-functional alignment in complex, global organizations. You will influence without authority, synthesize complex information into clear narratives, and move at a pace that matches a high-growth business navigating a once-in-a-generation industry shift. Key job responsibilities 1. Drive Global BD Planning & Operational Alignment • Lead the annual operating plan (OP1/OP2) process for the worldwide BD organization—defining timelines, aligning regional leaders on priorities, consolidating inputs, and driving the final plan to approval. • Establish and maintain a global BD operating cadence (WBR, MBR, QBR alignment) that ensures regional teams are synchronized on priorities, stage definitions, and performance expectations. • Identify and drive cross-regional opportunities: surface best practices from individual regions (e.g., pipeline health mechanisms, outreach models, retention playbooks) and scale them globally. • Partner with Sales Operations to translate data insights (pipeline metrics, entitlement models, attrition trends) into actionable strategic direction for regional BD leaders. 2. Lead Cross-Functional Strategic Initiatives • Serve as DRI (Directly Responsible Individual) for select high-priority initiatives that sit at the intersection of BD, Product, and Marketing—driving alignment, removing blockers, and ensuring delivery against milestones. • Current initiative areas include (but are not limited to): externalization and off-Amazon use cases, GS1 Sunrise BD readiness and go-to-market enablement, and new market segment development. • Develop clear initiative charters (problem statement, scope, success criteria, timeline, stakeholders) and drive structured execution cadences that maintain momentum. • Synthesize initiative status and strategic context for leadership communication—ensuring senior leaders have visibility into progress, blockers, and decision points without requiring deep operational immersion. 3. GS1 Sunrise BD Enablement & Go-to-Market Coordination • Own the BD enablement strategy for the GS1 Sunrise 2027 transition—ensuring every regional BD team member can articulate the value proposition, position Transparency as a Sunrise solution, and engage brands on serialization readiness. • Develop scalable enablement assets: playbooks, talk tracks, objection-handling guides, brand-facing collateral, and competitive positioning materials in partnership with Marketing. • Coordinate Transparency’s presence at industry events and conferences in partnership with Marketing and senior leadership—developing content strategy, identifying speaking opportunities, and ensuring consistent messaging. • Track and report on GS1 Sunrise adoption metrics across regions, identifying gaps and recommending targeted interventions. 4. Voice-of-Customer & Ecosystem Insights Amplification • Partner with Marketing (who owns core VOC mechanisms) to extend and operationalize customer insights across BD and Product decision-making. • Build additional feedback loops to capture ecosystem-level insights—from implementation partners, packaging operators, and supply chain stakeholders—that complement brand-level VOC. • Synthesize VOC and ecosystem inputs into quarterly themes that inform Product roadmap prioritization, go-to-market strategy, and BD resource allocation. • Ensure pilot learnings, partner feedback, and field intelligence are systematically captured and translated into actionable recommendations. 5. BD Program Development & Mechanism Building • Take ownership of select BD programs that benefit from centralized coordination—developing mechanisms that improve execution quality, visibility, and consistency across the global organization. • Design and implement scalable frameworks (templates, governance models, tracking systems) that regional teams can adopt without creating additional operational burden. • Identify gaps in BD execution infrastructure and propose solutions that balance rigor with agility—knowing when to systematize and when to preserve flexibility.
