Job Description

Senior Accountant

Client Accounting & Advisory Services

Location: Buenos Aires, Argentina
Work Arrangement: Remote
Employment Type: Full-Time, Independent Contractor
Compensation: USD 2,300–3,000/month
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm EST

About Convoy Finance

We like working with people who move fast, think for themselves, and care about doing great work. That’s pretty much how we run Convoy.

We’re a small finance and accounting firm working with technology, SaaS, fintech and Web3 companies across Canada and internationally. Our clients are ambitious businesses, and we work directly with the founders and finance teams building them.

That means we’re not just looking at numbers all day. We get to see what’s happening inside growing companies and help the people running them make better decisions. One week you might be deep in a month-end close, and the next you could be helping a client solve a reporting issue, clean up their books or work through something completely new.

We’re a small team, too. Most of us are based in Toronto, with a few people working remotely around the world. There’s very little bureaucracy, decisions happen quickly, and good ideas can actually turn into action.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Accountant who wants to be close to the action.

You’ll own accounting work across a portfolio of growing companies and work directly with international clients, founders, CFOs and senior finance professionals.

You’ll be responsible for getting the accounting right, but that’s only part of it. We want you to understand the business behind the numbers, notice when something doesn’t add up and be confident enough to ask questions.

The clients we work with move quickly, and so do we. There will be deadlines, new problems to solve and plenty of opportunities to learn. You’ll have the support of an experienced team, but you’ll also be trusted to take ownership rather than wait for instructions.

As you grow into the role, you’ll have the opportunity to take on more complex accounting, finance and advisory work.

What You’ll Do

You’ll take ownership of:

  • Full-cycle accounting and bookkeeping, including reconciliations, journal entries, AP/AR and month-end close
  • Preparing and reviewing financial statements and management reporting
  • Supporting year-end compilations, audits, reviews and tax-related work
  • Working directly with clients to resolve accounting questions and issues
  • Keeping client deliverables moving and communicating when something needs attention
  • Finding ways to improve processes, systems and the way we work
  • Supporting financial analysis and other client projects as they come up

What We’re Looking For

You have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field and 4+ years of relevant accounting experience.

You’re comfortable owning full-cycle accounting, month-end close and financial reporting, and managing multiple clients and deadlines at the same time.

You’re confident communicating in English with clients and senior finance people. You can explain what the numbers mean, not just what the numbers are.

And you’re someone who likes to figure things out. If something looks wrong, you investigate it. If you don’t know the answer, you find it. If there’s a better way to do something, you speak up.

Experience with QuickBooks Online, Xero, Taxprep or CaseWare is a plus, as is experience in public accounting, audit, tax, SaaS, technology, fintech or Web3.

CPA designation or active CPA pursuit is also a plus.
