Job Description

Job Description: NDT Subject Matter Expert – Laser Shearography (Level II / Level III)

Role Type: Contractor
Location: Remote

About the Role

We are seeking experienced NDT Subject Matter Experts specializing in Laser Shearography (Level II / Level III) to contribute to an advanced aerospace inspection and AI training project. In this role, you will leverage your technical expertise to support the development and evaluation of next-generation AI systems. Your domain knowledge will help improve AI models' ability to understand, analyze, and evaluate real-world non-destructive testing (NDT) data. No prior AI experience is required.

Scope of Work

  1. Perform detailed manual analysis of laser shearography data, including fringe patterns and interferograms, to identify and characterize defects in composite materials.

  2. Review and interpret technical case studies, test logs, and inspection limits for aerospace applications in accordance with relevant NDT standards.

  3. Evaluate and document defect types, severity levels, and potential impacts on composite structures, providing detailed technical justifications.

  4. Provide comprehensive written feedback on inspection findings to support the development and improvement of technical protocols.

  5. Collaborate remotely with project managers and technical stakeholders through clear, professional written and verbal communication.

  6. Ensure all assessments and reviews are conducted without AI assistance, maintaining the highest standards of manual inspection accuracy and integrity.

Requirements

  1. Current ASNT, NAS 410, or ISO 9712 Level II or Level III certification in Laser Shearography or related NDT methods.

  2. Extensive hands-on experience with laser shearography, particularly in aerospace and advanced composite material inspection.

  3. Strong expertise in interpreting shearography fringe patterns and optical interferometry data for defect evaluation.

  4. Excellent analytical skills in defect identification, root cause analysis, and technical reporting in accordance with stringent aerospace standards.

  5. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation and collaborative problem-solving.

  6. Good understanding of industry best practices for non-destructive inspection of composite materials.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience providing technical guidance or quality engineering support for NDT projects.

  2. Direct inspection, technical review, or evaluation experience in aerospace composite inspection.

  3. Familiarity with aerospace quality standards, inspection procedures, and advanced NDT methodologies.
